How We Hire at Staria
Every recruitment journey at Staria is unique, just like our candidates and the roles we offer. While the steps may vary depending on the position, we always aim to make your experience positive, welcoming, and straightforward. Here’s what you can typically expect when you apply to join us.
What happens after you apply?
We want to get to know you beyond your CV. Our interview process always includes several stages (usually 2-4) and is tailored to each open role. Typically, it’s a combination of the following elements.
Introductory meeting with the recruiter
Introductory meeting with the recruiter
Sometimes, we start with a short Teams meeting with one of our recruiters. It’s a relaxed chat to introduce ourselves, answer your questions, and take the first steps in exploring if there could be a mutual fit.
Interview with hiring manager
Interview with hiring manager
In this stage, you’ll meet the hiring manager and possibly other Staria team members. The main focus is on your work experience and professional skills. We want to hear your story — your background, special expertise, and achievements — so be ready to share concrete examples from your career.
This interview is also a chance for you to ask questions and get a real sense of Staria and our culture. We’ll talk openly about the role, the team, and what working here is like. You’ll learn about our ways of working, and we’ll discuss what motivates you and what you’re looking for in your next job.
The goal is to see if your experience and skills match the role, and to give you a clear picture of what life at Staria could be. Come prepared to talk about your work history, strengths, and future ambitions. If you prepare your questions in advance, you’ll get even more out of the conversation.
Assessment interview
Assessment interview
Before this interview, you’ll be invited to complete online assessments. These include a work personality questionnaire and selected ability tests (such as logical, numerical, and verbal reasoning). The purpose of these assessments is to help us understand how you think, work, and approach challenges. You will also receive your personal assessment reports before the interview.
In this round, we’ll take a deeper look at your ways of working through a competence-based interview. To prepare, take a moment to reflect on your work personality questionnaire results, consider which strengths and behaviours are essential for succeeding in the open position, and think of concrete examples from past work situations where you’ve demonstrated those competencies.
During the interview, we’ll ask for specific examples of situations, tasks, actions, and outcomes — and your role in them. This is your opportunity to show how your approach, collaboration style, and problem-solving skills come to life in practice.
Case assignment
Case assignment
For certain positions, we’ll ask you to complete a small case or task. This helps us see how you solve problems and gives you a taste of the kind of work you might do with us.
Reference check
Reference check
At the end of the recruitment process, we typically request two references, which are contacted via an online form sent by email. A good reference is someone who has direct, first-hand knowledge of your daily work, performance, and how you collaborate with others.
Our recruitment team's tips for a great interview
We know interviews can feel nerve-wracking, but a little preparation goes a long way. Here are our top tips to help you shine:
Read about Staria. Take a look at our website and social media to get a sense of who we are and what we do.
Think about your experience. Be ready to share examples from your work that highlight your skills and strengths. Take a look at the requirements of the open role and consider what experience and expertise you could bring to Staria and this specific position. Think of concrete examples of your successes, achievements, and strengths — what are you most proud of, and how do you stand out from other candidates? What are your greatest strengths, and how could they make a difference in this role?
Reflect on your future goals. Consider what kind of work truly excites you. What tasks and work environments light the sparks in your eyes? Are there things you’d prefer not to do, or responsibilities you’d like to move away from? We want to make sure the role we’re offering matches your ambitions and helps you move toward your own goals.
Check your tech. If your interview is online, make sure your connection and equipment work beforehand.
Ask questions. Interviews are just as much for you as for us, so feel free to ask about the team, how we work, or anything else you’re curious about. The goal is to find the right fit for both of us!
Take your time. If you need a moment to think before answering, that’s totally fine.
Relax. We’re rooting for you! Our interviews are friendly conversations to find a mutual match. You might get some challenging questions, but that’s just to help us see how your skills match the role, and we always aim to keep the atmosphere positive and supportive.
Be yourself. We value authenticity. Let your personality and motivation shine throughout the recruitment process, and don’t be afraid to show what makes you unique. Skip the generic AI jargon in your application & CV and let your genuine self stand out.
We’re excited to meet you and see how you could grow with us. Good luck — and remember, you’ve got this!
FAQs
You can find more information about our recruitment process in our frequently asked questions.
Can I use AI in the recruitment process?
Can I use AI in the recruitment process?
You can use GenAI in recruitment as a writing assistant, similar to a grammar or spell-check tool. It’s helpful for improving clarity, structure, and tone in your CV or cover letter, as long as the content reflects your real experience. AI can also help make your application materials consistent and professional. Additionally, it’s useful for interview prep — like researching industry trends, learning about the company, understanding interview formats, and practicing common questions.
AI must not be used to create fake experiences or skills — your application should be honest and reflect your real background. Don’t copy AI-generated answers directly, as they tend to be generic and won’t help you stand out. You need to be able to discuss everything in your application during interviews. Using AI during assessments or interviews is not allowed, and breaking these rules may lead to disqualification. Interviewers can tell if your experience is genuine, so always be truthful.
How do you use AI in the recruitment process?
How do you use AI in the recruitment process?
At Staria, we use AI tools to support and streamline our recruitment process. We utilize our own AI tool StariaMind and our applicant tracking system Teamtailor’s AI features for example to help write job ads, transcript and write interview notes, and summarize candidate information. AI assists our team in making the process more efficient, but all final decisions are made by people — AI is used to support, not replace, human judgment. Personal data is always handled with care and in line with our privacy policies.
